San Saba Merlot, 2004
Production: 575 cases
A warm winter and spring resulted in early bud break. Temperatures stayed warm and by mid-May, degree days were 10% ahead of normal. There was a heat spike late August during which many vineyards picked. We kept the clusters on the vine to develop further and temperatures cooperated, cooling off for the last month. Even with this extra time, harvest was September 28, two weeks earlier than normal.

San Saba Chardonnay, 2005
Production 825 cases
Lemon, lime, and crisp minerality contribute to green apple, cinnamon and a hint of butter for a lush, complex wine. Subtle oak carries through the pallet without taking focus away from the chardonnay grape itself. This wine is sophisticated and true to the soil it comes from. Northern Monterey County has the ideal growing climate for chardonnay. Daily sun exposure ripens the grapes while cold Pacific winds extend the growing season for an extra two months. This allows chardonnay time to develop the tropical fruit and lush textures for which Monterey chardonnay is known.

San Saba Pinot Noir, 2006
Production: 600 cases
Richer and more complex than our first release, this wine still maintains a stylistic appeal that is classic French in its delicate balance of weight and flavor. The bouquet has dark chocolate covered cherries with touches of spice and cedar. Violets in the nose and mouth also contribute interest. Flavors of cherry fruit and a little meatiness make this wine intriguing. There’s a vibrancy that adds energy and brightness within the framework of a smooth texture.

a fantastic melody of lychee, apricot, nectarine, and peaches
with some cantaloupe and honey. The more floral notes of orange
blossom and honeysuckle complete the aroma. Sweet but balanced
with acidity, the wine moves through your mouth with flavor and
viscosity, leaving it clean and awaiting another swallow.
